Hello All Network Members,

Here are the much-awaited results of the Dennis Challenge. After much deliberation, the teachers have surfaced the top 3 teams.

Group 2 (led by Kai Zhi) — scored very well for innovation & feasibility
Group 3 (led by Yang Fan) — scored well for innovation, but weak in feasibility
Group 8 (led by Aaron) — average for both innovation & feasibility

These teams will receive a case prize of $50. The teachers were also impressed by one another group — Group 6 (led by Xiao Heng), while their idea is innovative, but the feasibility was questionable. For that, we’ll give this group a consolidation prize, in honour of their efforts, $30.

Hello all J1s,

While the JC2s are scrambling over Block Test Preparations, I hope you guys wont be too over relaxed during this period of hiatus, which will be expected to drag on until the first week of term 2. Mean while, we have an opportunity for all of you to be exposed to national competitions and definitely, be more knowledgeable in the field of financial literacy. This year, the NTU Investment Interactive Club, will be organising the annual National CashFlow Competition- a board game stimulating the real rat race these days. In this board game rat race, the group of 6 individual players must either earn the most money or get out of the rat race, in order to score more points. Eventually, the player with the most number of points wins.

More about the Cashflow game

Much of Cashflow is like an adult version of Monopoly. Each player takes on an occupation in the game and the basic idea is to purchase enough cashflow positive assets to exceed one’s everyday living expenses. With this aim in mind, one can purchase cashflow positive properties, business mutual funds and shares, as one lands on the different squares on the boardgame. Be it “receiving your pay cheque” or landing yourself “investment opportunities”, Cashflow players will get their chance to learn about accounting, finance, investing, wealth management – all in a single game!

Competition

Participants compete in teams of two. Being an individualistic game by nature, the inclusion of teamwork inculcates in the participants the importance of working together to achieve greater gains. The points earned by each individual adds towards the team’s total score, by which the winners are decided.

School category: Join this competition with your school mate and bring the Challenge trophy back to your school in glory!

Do note that you are strongly encouraged to join this competition, since as J1s, the opportunity cost is rather low.
- Participants will form a team of 2
- 27th March- 29th March (Friday-Sunday)
- Venue: Millenia Walk
- Registration: $10/team

Just grab your best buddy in network to join this competition and attractive prizes like Sony Vaio latops are to be won. There will also be a school challenge trophy, and we need your active participation in order to lift this trophy back! Remember “Opportunity breeds opportunities”. Most importantly, just take this competition as a form of exposure and have fun!

Any interested teams who wish to join, do email your particulars (both members) to admin@hci-network.com by this coming Thursday, 12th March 2009. We will be collating the list of participants as a club and register for all of you. The $10 registration fee will be collected from you on another date.

Cheers,
Jeremy Chen
