Have you ever thought of your future working life? Isn’t it tiring to be an employee working under your boss, doing what your superiors say? How about being the courageous entrepreneur who stands out and takes up the challenge of starting a company? If you are looking for such an opportunity, the Virtual Business Challenge is the chance you should fight for!
The Virtual Business Challenge (VBC) is a business simulation game that gives you first-hand experience in applying your entrepreneurship skills in a real-life scenario. You will get to compete with others in a virtual setting through an online portal. There are two categories to this competition: VBC (Upper Secondary) and VBC (College).
The theme for VBC 2009 is: The Gaming Industry
Teams this year have a choice of what market to set up businesses in (E.g. Personal Computers, Consoles, Embedded Devices, etc.) and which genre of games to offer as products (E.g. First Person Shooter, Real Time Strategy, MMORPG, etc.). Companies must also make business decisions such as research and development, pricing of goods and investment to increase production output.
To make these decisions, teams will have to key data into an online portal every virtual month, which is equivalent to 1 hour real time. At the end of every month, a business report will also be generated. It gives information critical to teams, such as ranking, revenue, profits, losses and market share. The results generated in the report will be dependent on the decisions made by all teams in the market, for example the demand and supply of all goods.
